Our Strategic Approach
Strategic planning is a key moment in the life of any organization—a time to pause and reflect: where are we going, together? It offers an opportunity to think critically about what we want to transform, the values that guide us, and the priorities we must set to get there.
Published in April 2025, PSRR’s strategic plan outlines a clear path forward: to create an inclusive and equitable research space that honours the knowledge and leadership of Black and racialized communities. The plan is anchored in five interconnected pillars that reflect PSRR’s commitment to advancing justice in research, protecting the futures of Black and racialized researchers, and recognizing their expertise.

The plan is anchored in five interconnected pillars that reflect PSRR’s commitment to advancing justice in research, protecting the futures of Black and racialized researchers, and recognizing their expertise.
1. Research
Toward just, collaborative, and community-accessible research that challenges and moves away from extractive practices.
2. Ethics
Toward ethical frameworks grounded in community standards and the lived realities of those directly impacted.
3. Knowledge
Toward building the capacities of Black and racialized researchers through spaces for sharing, learning, and intergenerational knowledge exchange.
4. Community
Pour le renforcement des capacités des chercheur.e.s noir.e.s et racisé.e.s, à travers des espaces de partage, de formation et de transmission.
5. Justice
Toward networks of support, healing, and solidarity rooted in collective well-being and long-term commitment.
Through this plan, PSRR affirms a core belief: research becomes a tool for liberation only when grounded in social justice, reflexive collaboration, and self-determination.
